Matty's trajectory within FC Copa Academy exemplifies dedication, skill, and leadership. From his beginnings as a youth player to his tenure as a vital member of the men's team, and eventually, as a highly successful coach of two academy teams, Matty has left an indelible mark on our organization.
Graduating with the Class of 2011 from FC Copa Academy, Matty's legacy as a center midfielder and captain of FC Copa Forza is one of unparalleled success, including two State Cup Championships and participation in two National Finals. His collegiate career at Rutgers University and Marist College further underscored his talent and leadership, captaining Marist College's team for two years.
Returning to FC Copa Academy post-college, Matty's impact extended beyond the field as a starting center midfielder and captain of the NJ Copa FC men's team during the inaugural years of the NPSL, guiding the team to a Regional Final. Simultaneously, Matty embarked on a coaching career at FC Copa, nurturing young talent with dedication and expertise. Notably, his coaching prowess led the 2006 girls' team to eventual National Title success, and he guided the 2004 girls to the state finals in 2022.
Matty's commitment to his players is unwavering, characterized by his profound knowledge, infectious energy, and genuine compassion. His role as the Director of Communications and Assistant Boys Soccer Coach at Seton Hall Prep underscores his continued dedication to the sport and the development of young athletes, contributing to the program's remarkable success with three out of the past four NJ State Championships.
